Selecting my Keywords

I have a day job but play around with affiliate marketing. I’ve had some great success in the past but it’s not a definite income and ranges from $30 a day to $1,000. Nowadays I am closer to $30. :)

Regardless, to get back to $1,000 a day, you need to experiment. I thought that I would piggy back this little tutorial with the Publisher Challenge.  The Publisher Challenge is a challenge for people to make money.  You have a month to promote offers by a specific affiliate network.  Each month the network changes.

This week, it’s Motive Interactive.

The offer I am choosing to promote for no specific reason is an IQ/Trivia quiz.

What’s first?  Keywords.  For this I am going to try a slightly different approach.  I am only going after 2 keywords.

Trivia Quiz
Trivia Quizzes

“Trivia Quiz” gets about 33,000 visits a month.  “Trivia Quizzes” gets about 15,000 a month.  Even if I got all the impressions and had a 4% click through rate, that would only be about 64 clicks a day.  That’s why were are mainly going to go after the content network.

Now these 2 keywords are kind of broad.  So we are going to add some negative keywords.  Negative keywords are keywords that you don’t want your ads showing for.  Here’s the quick list that I came up with.

The quiz has nothing to do with any of these topics.  Also if somebody is searching for “trivia quiz answers” then they would seem to be looking for information, not wanting to take a quiz.

So now with these lists, I can go off and make a landing page.
